Law students in Husch Blackwell’s nationally-ranked Summer Associate Program receive a stimulating, real-world experience to help prepare them for the responsibilities of life as practicing lawyers. This means participating in unique professional development opportunities, working alongside our partners and associates, contributing to trials, attending client conferences, and taking part in the structuring and negotiation of business transactions.
Open Communication
We value transparency and collaboration at Husch Blackwell. As a summer associate, you will work with a summer program coordinator who will help you manage your projects and provide informal feedback and guidance throughout the summer. You will also receive formal reviews and regular constructive feedback directly from the lawyers with whom you work.
Fostering Growth
Mentoring is essential to your success in the legal profession. Not only does our firm provide a robust mentoring program for associates, but we also pair our summer associates with mentors who provide guidance, advice, and training throughout the summer. This prepares you to create valuable mentoring relationships when you start your career as an attorney.
Community of True Belonging
There is more to the Summer Associate Program than just work. Fun programming is one of the several areas that earned our program a top 10 ranking from Law 360. Throughout the summer, you will have the opportunity to participate in industry and practice group events and small group meetings with our attorneys.
We also host several social activities, including a firmwide event in which all summer associates gather to meet, learn more about our firm, and most importantly, have fun. Past events have included dinners, receptions, happy hours, local festivals and cultural events, private tours of local attractions, and sporting events such as golf tournaments, softball tournaments, and bowling.
