Husch Blackwell attorneys Greg Minana and Tanya Maerz secured a complete defense verdict for an anesthesia group after a week-long medical malpractice jury trial.
During surgery, the plaintiffs’ mother suffered complications that resulted in brain injury. The plaintiffs alleged that the anesthesia group was negligent by failing to adequately monitor the patient’s blood pressure and oxygen saturations, and administering more medication than documented on the anesthesia record. In the closing argument, the Plaintiffs requested a total damage award of $1.43 million. After less than 45 minutes, the jury returned a complete defense verdict, finding no fault on the part of the defendant and awarding the plaintiffs nothing.
