Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that partners Hayley Hanson and Emily Stedman will be honored by Corporate Counsel in the Mental Health & Well Being Initiative of its Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards 2024.
The Mental Health & Well Being Initiative category recognizes women who have led or contributed significantly to prioritizing mental health and wellbeing initiatives in their company or legal department.
Hanson, who is based in Kansas City and helped build the firm’s national higher education practice, was recognized for leading a team that created a wellness policy, which assured attorneys and professional staff of their benefits, including a travel benefit.
The impetus for the wellness policy occurred with the firm’s development of affinity groups. Hanson had the idea to create a wellness group, and from there determined to draft a wellness policy. The policy includes an affirmation of Husch Blackwell’s support to the wellness of its partners and professional staff, identifies the full collection of wellness resources and benefits offered by the firm, and articulates the rights of those participating in wellness initiatives.
Stedman, a commercial litigator based in Milwaukee, was recognized for destigmatizing mental health issues and promoting well-being in the legal profession. She has amassed more than 15,000 followers across her social media platforms where she discusses her own experiences in Big Law. Stedman’s content focuses on building healthy habits, maintaining boundaries, and cultivating self-compassion amidst the unique challenges of the legal profession.
Hanson and Stedman will be recognized at an awards dinner on September 24 in Chicago as a part of the Women, Influence & Power in Law Conference.
