Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce a nationwide partnership with Legal Mentor Network (LMN), a nonprofit organization that matches mentors and mentees in the legal industry. In conjunction with the partnership, the firm will hold LMN meetups in 10 cities where Husch Blackwell offices are located, beginning in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, June 5.
The Legal Mentor Network was created organically through a series of LinkedIn posts made by Husch Blackwell partner Brian Potts during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. Now it is a formal 501(c)(3) non-profit that strives to connect legal professionals from dozens of companies and nearly every major Am Law 100 firm with mentees through one-on-one relationships, skills-building events, and more. In less than four years, the network has helped thousands of law students and young lawyers find mentors, with a large proportion of mentees being diverse and first-generation lawyers.
“When we formally incorporated the Legal Mentor Network in 2022, I could have never imagined the interest it would receive—both from mentors and mentees,” said Potts, who joined Husch Blackwell earlier this year. “There is a tremendous need in the legal industry for mentorship, particularly for those historically underrepresented in the community, and I’m incredibly grateful that Husch Blackwell has agreed to be part of our growing community.”
LMN and Husch Blackwell plan to host additional meetups at its other offices, including Chicago, Boston, and the firm’s soon-to-be opened Nashville office. The purpose of the meetups is to provide a venue for mentors and mentees to gather in person and provide additional networking opportunities for attendees.
