Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce the arrival of Jason P. Walton and C. Cartwright “Carty” Bibee, who join the firm as partners in its Financial Services & Capital Markets group. Resident in Charleston, South Carolina, Walton and Bibee will be based in The Link, Husch Blackwell’s virtual office.
Walton practices tax law with a concentration on deals involving federal and state tax credits. He counsels investors and companies in connection with tax credits spanning multiple industries, including renewable energy and real estate development. In addition, he has experience with securitized transactions involving REMICs, and his practice encompasses the tax aspects of real estate financings, mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity offerings and restructurings, and fund formations.
Bibee represents equity investors in connection with solar energy projects and other projects generating tax credits and has a broad-based transactional law practice focusing on acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures, as well as corporate governance and general corporate counseling, for a variety of public and private companies. He has significant experience in structuring and executing asset purchases and sales as well as stock-based transactions across a broad spectrum of industries including the solar and renewables sector.
“Jason and Carty are highly regarded practitioners who will provide our firm with a broad presence in the southeastern U.S. for a variety of transactional work and will be excellent resources for our existing clients,” said Eric Lenzen, the head of Husch Blackwell’s Financial Services & Capital Markets industry group. “Their arrival is also notable in that it demonstrates how The Link can broaden Husch Blackwell’s ability to attract high-achieving lawyers who reside outside our existing network of physical offices.”
Both lawyers were formerly partners in the Charleston office of K&L Gates LLP.
