The partners of Husch Blackwell have elected Joe Glynias to serve as the firm’s next Executive Board Chair, succeeding current Chair Catherine Hanaway, whose term ends March 31, 2024.

Glynias joined Husch Blackwell in 2003 and has been with the firm for his entire legal career. He served on the firm’s Executive Board from 2015-2022.

“Joe played a key role recruiting me to Husch Blackwell, and is a walking example of our firm’s commitment to clients, people, and diversity, equity, and inclusion,” said Jamie Lawless, a non-lawyer business professional who assumes the role of Chief Executive of the firm on February 1. “He has deep institutional knowledge and an innovative mindset, and I’m looking forward to working alongside him during the next three years as we take Husch Blackwell to the next level.”

“Joe has earned the respect of his peers, especially after playing a vital role on the Executive Board for seven years,” said Hanaway, who will return to her practice full-time. “I’m excited to be able to devote more time to my practice and am confident that firm leadership is in great hands moving forward.”

Based in St. Louis, Glynias is a highly regarded labor and employment attorney, who concentrates much of his practice on the facets of employment law that regularly change, such as wage and hour collective/class actions under state and federal law. He also counsels clients on the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), restrictive covenant creation and enforcement, Department of Labor actions, and discrimination laws. Glynias has been recognized by Chambers and Partners, Benchmark Litigation, The Best Lawyers in America®, The St. Louis Business Journal, Missouri Lawyers Media and BTI Consulting.

“I am extremely excited about Jamie serving as our next Chief Executive and helping her chart our course forward,” Glynias said. “Our firm defines itself in many uncommon ways, including that a successful law firm does not have to be run by a lawyer—particularly when a non-lawyer business professional of Jamie’s caliber has shown herself to be such an inspiring and competent leader.

“I believe my role, and that of the Executive Board, is to support her and create an environment where she can best succeed, and I can’t wait to see what we can all do together. Our firm is beyond fortunate to be working from a position of strength and success based on the extraordinary work and dedication shown by Catherine Hanaway during her time as our Chair, for which we are all extremely grateful.”

Glynias is a member of the Missouri and Illinois bar associations. He received his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri.

In addition to Glynias’ appointment, Husch Blackwell elected two partners to the executive board, whose three-year terms begin on April 1, 2024: Jen Dlugosz, who currently serves as the Deputy Managing Partner of Husch Blackwell's virtual office, The Link, and Julie Miceli, who is the Chicago Office Managing Partner. The new members join the following current members of the board: Joe Geraci, Hayley Hanson, Phil Koutnik, Ann Maher, Nikelle Meade, Sonni Nolan, Tom Shorter, Rudy Telscher, and Ed Wilson. The term for current members J.Y. Miller and Julianne Story ends on March 31, 2024.
