Husch Blackwell’s Washington, DC, office has welcomed several new attorneys to the firm since the beginning of 2021. The firm’s recent investment in Washington spans multiple practice areas and speaks to the continued strategic importance of the Washington office to the firm’s overall strategy.
Most recently, the firm’s Washington, DC, office added Joy K. Gaslevic as senior counsel. Gaslevic comes to the firm from The Johns Hopkins University, where she served as that institution’s Interim Vice Provost for Institutional Equity. She joins Husch Blackwell’s Higher Education practice group and will focus on Title IX and civil rights matters, as well as the development of ethics and compliance programs and training for higher education clients. Gaslevic also spent 12 years with the Office of the Maryland Attorney General, primarily in its Educational Affairs Division.
Earlier this year, the Washington office added Michael Schrier as a partner to its Government Contracts team, as well as associate Tony Busch, who joined the firm’s growing International Trade & Supply Chain group. The firm also welcomed two new associates based in Washington as part of its new associate class that began in January.
These 2021 arrivals punctuate the growth Husch Blackwell’s Washington office enjoyed throughout 2020. The most notable additions last year included an expansion of the firm’s Food & Agribusiness capabilities in Washington. The firm added Seth Mailhot and Adena Santiago as partners in February and September, respectively. Mailhot assumed leadership of Husch Blackwell’s Food & Drug Administration (FDA) practice, where he handles a broad array of matters involving FDA-regulated products and services, including food, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, tobacco, radiation-emitting electronic products and cosmetics. Santiago provides comprehensive alcohol-related licensing, labeling and compliance advice to a broad client list, including hotels, restaurants, distillers, brewers, wineries, and distributors.
