News Releases

National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Aleks O. Rushing has been appointed as an at-large member of the Council of School Attorneys (COSA) Steering Committee.

Rushing, who was elected to the Husch Blackwell partnership, effective January 1, 2024, was appointed by the National School Boards Association’s (NSBA) Board of Directors. COSA supports school attorneys in their representation of public school boards and provides opportunities for leadership in legal advocacy for public schools. COSA’s seven-member Steering Committee advises and informs NSBA to assist it in carrying out COSA’s purpose.

Based in St. Louis, Rushing is a member of the firm’s Education practice team where she counsels schools on investigations, litigation, and compliance matters arising from a wide range of harassment, discrimination, and safety issues. These include advising on matters in response to internal and Office of Civil Rights (OCR) complaints, as well as litigation claims following alleged student or employee misconduct involving criminal activity; minors on campus; and sex, race, age, and national origin discrimination.

Prior to joining Husch Blackwell, Rushing worked at the U.S. Department of Education, Office of the General Counsel under Former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan in Washington, D.C.
