Husch Blackwell partner Matthew Schelp was confirmed today in a predominantly bipartisan vote to serve as a judge for the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri. President Donald Trump nominated Schelp for the judgeship on November 6, 2019.
Based in Husch Blackwell’s St. Louis office, Schelp is a key partner in the firm’s Government Solutions practice group, where he focuses on government compliance, internal investigations, whistleblower defense, white collar defense, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) litigation, securities enforcement and business litigation.

Prior to joining Husch Blackwell, Schelp founded Jensen Bartlett & Schelp in 2009 and was senior advisor with the Ashcroft Law Firm. He previously served three years active duty and 11 years as a reservist in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. For nearly a decade Matt served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the capacity of a white collar prosecutor and deputy healthcare fraud coordinator. In this role, he was responsible for the evaluation, investigation and prosecution of fraud and criminal healthcare matters in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri.
