National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce Senior Associate Michael Blackwell will chair the Electricity Steering Committee of the Energy Bar Association, effective April 29, 2024.

The Electricity Steering Committee provides a forum for individuals whose legal practice, professional work experience, and intellectual pursuits are grounded in electricity. Its aim is to advance the professional excellence of those engaged in energy law, regulation, and policy through professional education, diverse viewpoints, and building connections.

In his role as the Committee chair, Blackwell will be facilitating a network of engaged individuals and striving to create educational events throughout his term. The committee is responsible for publishing reports on legal developments pertaining to the electric power industry and the Energy Law Journal.

Blackwell is experienced in energy infrastructure transactions and advises clients on federal and state energy laws, regulations, and policies. He represents clients in transactional and commercial matters, as well as in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), state public service commissions, and state and federal courts. Prior to entering private practice in October 2021, he was an attorney at the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), where he served as lead in house counsel on several queue reform filings and the creation of HVDC interconnection procedures.

The announcement was made on April 25 during the Energy Bar Association Annual Meeting and Conference.
