Benchmark Litigation, a leading legal directory devoted solely to litigation, has selected three Husch Blackwell partners—Marci Kawski, Derek Teeter and Jameson Watts—for its 2020 Benchmark 40 & Under Hot List.
Based in Madison, Wisconsin, Kawski represents banks, credit unions, and other lenders when faced with regulatory issues and consumer finance litigation. Benchmark noted her work in federal and state courts, including a victory at the Wisconsin Supreme Court involving a case that probed the scope of the Wisconsin Consumer Act and that will likely have far-reaching implications for the state’s creditor community. This is her second year on the 40 & Under Hot List.
Teeter, who is based in the firm’s Kansas City office, is a litigator focused on complex disputes involving federal and state regulatory statutes, governmental immunities, and constitutional rights. A majority of his clients are private and public colleges and universities that face lawsuits from students, faculty, and contractors, as well as regulatory enforcement actions from the U.S. Department of Education and equivalent state agencies. He has maintains an active practice handling consumer class action and the False Claims Act litigation. This is also Teeter’s second year on the 40 & Under Hot List.
Watts is based in the firm’s Austin office, where he focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy law. He counsels clients in commercial disputes and also represents owners, developers, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in construction defect and related matters. He handles all aspects of litigation from pre-suit demand through final appeal. Watts is Board Certified in Consumer and Commercial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. This is his first year on the 40 & Under Hot List.
