National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that New York-based Michael Robles and Brian O’Sullivan have joined the firm as partners in its Insurance practice group and as members of the firm’s virtual Link office. They join the firm’s Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit.
Robles and O’Sullivan have more than five decades of combined experience litigating or arbitrating high-profile, high-stakes reinsurance disputes. They have been at the forefront of some of the highest-profile cases involving the reinsurance industry, including disputes relating to contingent business interruption, finite reinsurance, workers’ compensation carve-out reinsurance, and bad faith run-off practices. Robles and O’Sullivan serve all sectors of the reinsurance industry, including cedents and captive insurers, reinsurers and brokers, and they advise on all lines of reinsurance, including property and casualty, life, accident and health, and finite. The two join from Crowell & Moring where Robles was partner and O’Sullivan was senior counsel.
“Mike and Brian are among the top reinsurance litigators in the country, and they will be a great complement to our practice’s existing extensive coverage experience,” said Scott Davis, partner and head of Husch Blackwell’s Insurance practice. “Insurance litigation has greatly increased in the past few years in New York due in part to external forces such as cyber breaches, forever chemicals and climate change, among others, and the addition of Mike and Brian even better positions Husch Blackwell to meet the needs of clients in this everchanging industry.”
“We’re delighted to join a deep insurance bench that stretches from coast-to-coast, and which will enable us to service all sectors of the insurance and reinsurance industries,” Robles said.
