Join Husch Blackwell and the Council of the Great City Schools for a discussion on Supreme Court cases Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina. The cases consider race-conscious admissions procedures allowed under the Court’s prior decisions, including University of California v. Bakke (1978), Grutter v. Bollinger (2003), Fisher v. University of Texas (2013) and Fisher v. University of Texas (2016).
The presentation will discuss background of the cases, as well as the Council’s amicus brief that describes the role that persistent segregation and educational inequality at the elementary and secondary level continue to play in creating and maintaining racial and ethnic achievement gaps among K-12 students. The webinar will also discuss oral arguments that took place on October 31, 2022, and the possible impact of the decision on efforts to promote diversity at the elementary and secondary school level.
