Daniel Wilkinson will moderate, "Medical Financers Beware: CFPB Shows Increasing Skepticism of Medical Credit Cards and Other Alternative Forms of Medical Financing," at the American Bar Association's Consumer Financial Services Committee Meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
The CFPB has signaled a heightened interest in healthcare financing products. In the CFPB’s view, a doctor’s office is not a great place for a consumer to make sound financial decisions. The CFPB also has proposed a new rule that would remove medical bills from credit reports. This panel will discuss current regulatory oversight in the medical debt space, what actions the CFPB could take to increase its enforcement over the space, and any effect that would have on the industry.
