Tim Ribelin with co-present at the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Hospital Association webinar, "End of Life Update & Considerations," on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Joe Geraci will serve as one of the moderators.
Overview
End-of-Life Issues and the Texas Advance Directives Act - The program will cover a range of current topics related to the application of the Texas Advance Directives Act (Health and Safety Code chapter 166) to end-of-life issues as they play out in Texas health care facilities, with a focus on: the procedures in the Act for resolving disputes regarding treatment decisions; recent court decisions related to the Act’s dispute resolution process; and the roles of the various participants, e.g., physicians, hospital personnel, ethics committee members, and patients and surrogate decision-makers.
Our speakers bring a wide range of knowledge and experience in these issues, and include a physician and medical ethicist who directs a large health care system’s ethics committees processes and attorneys who regularly advise health care providers on the requirements of the Act and on policies, procedures, and best practices for implementing the Act.
