John Borkowski and Aleks Rushing will present, "The Locus of Local Control: State Versus School District Authority" at the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) Education Law & Finance Institute on March 4, 2021.
Please join us for a discussion on disputes and litigation involving states and school districts across the country. Our nation has a long history of local control of public education, but where does local control ultimately reside? This presentation dives deeper into the true meaning of local control and some of the issues arising between school districts and state governments as they wrestle with this concept. Specifically, the discussion will address current controversies between local school boards and state officials. These areas include hotly disputed issues such as school finance, charter schools, voucher programs and accountability standards.
This two-day institute will deepen knowledge and improve practice among school administrators and their teams in implementing legal and financial decisions in the learning environment they lead. You can find out more information about this presentation and the Education Law & Finance Institute on the KASA website.
