As the leader of Husch Blackwell’s energy compliance and enforcement attorneys, Demi counsels clients in dealings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
He brings an insider’s judgment and perspective to business-critical issues, particularly as they pertain to enforcement and compliance matters. He has broad experience in administrative litigation and substantive grounding on the full range of FERC's regulatory programs.
Before joining the firm, Demi worked in FERC’s Office of Enforcement, Division of Investigations (and its predecessors) for more than 20 years. While there, he was involved in areas such as interstate and intrastate natural gas pipelines, natural gas producers, independent marketers, interstate oil and petroleum products pipelines, electric utilities and electric transmission companies, independent system operators (ISOs), regional transmission organizations (RTOs), and hydroelectric projects.
At FERC Demi held these positions: legal assistant to the Director of the Office of Pipeline and Producer Regulation; special assistant to the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Enforcement; and legal assistant to former Commissioner Jerry Langdon. He also worked in the Federal Power Commission's Office of General Counsel. In addition, he was in-house counsel at Washington Gas Light Co., and was in private practice representing gas clients before federal regulators.
