Katie brings a wealth of experience and a strategic approach to her complex litigation practice, underpinned by her extensive time in the courtroom. With a track record of representing a diverse range of clients—from small businesses to large, publicly traded companies—Katie has successfully managed high-stakes contract, tort, real estate, and property disputes. Her ability to navigate and litigate complex cases is demonstrated through her numerous jury trials in state courts, where she has consistently secured favorable verdicts.

In addition to her trial experience, Katie has played a pivotal role in driving substantial discovery efforts and supporting appellate teams. She excels at guiding clients through all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation strategy to post-trial motions, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate the challenges of each case. Her collaborative approach allows her to work seamlessly with organizations across various industries, including healthcare, transportation, and real estate.

Before attending law school, Katie worked as an administrator at universities across the country. This experience provides her with a unique perspective on risk management, crisis response, and client service. As a result, Katie approaches legal challenges with a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary mindset—enabling her to anticipate issues, respond proactively, and deliver results tailored to clients’ goals.   • Obtained a defense verdict after a week-long jury trial on behalf of The Kansas City Southern Railway Company in a case brought under the Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA).
  • Achieved dismissal for forum non conveniens in a wrongful death action filed against The Kansas City Southern Railway Company.
  • Successfully argued motion to compel arbitration regarding claims against a skilled nursing provider for medical malpractice.
  • Successfully defended and resolved medical malpractice cases against various healthcare providers, including skilled nursing facilities and individual providers.
  • Procured favorable settlement in a small claims case on behalf of an insurance company involving out-of-network insurance coverage.
  • Successfully argued and obtained a temporary restraining order and additional injunctive relief on behalf of a natural gas company in a dispute arising from the company's easement rights over its natural gas pipeline.
  • Represented water company in defeating opposition to construction of a water main installation by property owners.
  • Represented retail company in multiple premises liability matters achieving favor settlements in two cases involving claims of negligence.
  • Obtained a court-appointed guardianship over a pro bono client's parent through Husch Blackwell's partnership with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis.
  • Successfully defended against a motion for summary judgment for failure to exhaust administrative remedies in a Section 1983 prisoner's rights case.
