Prior to joining the firm, Mackenzie taught students of diverse abilities and backgrounds at a public charter school in Kansas City. She also served as a Teach for America Corps Member. At a granular level, Mackenzie knows what issues educators face on a day-to-day level. Known for being an approachable and effective communicator and listener, Mackenzie leverages her education background and legal skills to navigate educators through legal strategy and solutions.
Mackenzie guides clients on proactive compliance, training and policies that meet and exceed a wide range of changing regulations and place both public and private schools on optimal standing to face unexpected challenges. Her experience includes a variety of regulatory work, from changes of ownership and control to accreditation matters to authorization compliance. She has also represented clients during investigations, including Title IX investigations. When audits or claims arise, Mackenzie collaborates within the firm’s coast-to-coast footprint for optimal representation and resolution.
