Peter supports the firm’s education clients, helping them stay in line with federal and state laws and regulations.
A history major drawn to the practice of law by its broad career potential, Peter was also attracted to the opportunities a legal career afforded to help others. After earning his degree from the University of Iowa College of Law, he clerked with the Iowa Court of Appeals, where he learned the ins and outs of trial preparation and saw the intricacies of legal arguments at the appellate level. The experience honed Peter’s eye for detail and the finer points of law, readily preparing him for the regulatory compliance work he would later take on. As a recent grad, Peter also served as a legal editor for Barbri Global, where he extensively developed his legal research and writing skills.
Peter’s desire to help others led him to accept a role with his home state’s government, serving as an attorney for the Iowa Department of Education. He worked primarily with special education laws and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), finding the opportunity to ensure fair treatment for students with disabilities especially fulfilling.
In 2023, Peter joined Husch Blackwell’s Education team, where he helps educational institutions maintain compliance with various federal and state laws and regulations. Peter is skilled at drafting policies and assisting in investigations. Clients can trust him to achieve the best results possible and to protect their organizations.
