As Husch Blackwell’s Risk Management Counsel, Sierra works to protect the firm and its attorneys, paralegals, and business professionals.
With a passion for the challenge of solving difficult problems, Sierra was drawn to litigation from the beginning of her career—the more complicated, the better. She focused her practice on representing sophisticated organizations with intricate structures in high-value matters and bet-the-company cases.
Sierra has devoted her whole legal career to Husch Blackwell: after first serving as a summer associate during law school, she joined the firm full-time upon her graduation in 2017 as a member of the Commercial Litigation team. From trade secret litigation to healthcare and medical defense to challenges in the food systems industries, Sierra’s practice covered a wide breadth of litigation. Her experience navigating the complex world of commercial litigation allowed her to assist each client with their unique needs. Sierra has handled both bench and jury trials, as well as settlement negotiations, but what she always loved most was the partnership she built with clients. She thrived on collaboration and aimed to work as closely with clients’ in-house teams as possible.
This passion led Sierra to an interest in an in-house role of her own. She was enthusiastic at the thought of focusing all her energies on one client, learning their business inside and out, and being a full part of their own team, and she even participated in the inaugural semester of HB In-House, an internal professional development program aimed at helping firm attorneys gain an intimate understanding of in-house roles. However, Sierra also knew that she loved Husch Blackwell’s people and culture far too much to depart for an in-house position elsewhere.
In 2024, the perfect opportunity arose for Sierra to join the firm’s own in-house team. She is thrilled to focus exclusively on the firm’s business and its legal matters, overseeing internal practices and compliance to keep the firm in line with ethical standards and prevent claims or allegations.
Her background as a litigator still influences her current role: she has an excellent eye for issue spotting and a knack for problem solving. Sierra has always been known for her ability to resolve any problem a client brought her—work she continues today on behalf of the firm.
