Stephen represents both corporate and nonprofit clients in complex litigation—and also helps organizations set themselves up for success.
Stephen divides his practice between corporate commercial litigation and work with nonprofit organizations and religious institutions. The corporate half of his practice encompasses a wide variety of business disputes, including matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and fraud claims to real estate litigation to corporate divorces and more. Stephen has represented individuals, small businesses, and multinational corporations. While Stephen is broadly experienced across multiple industries, he has worked with technology clients especially often, as well as with entertainment and gaming companies during his time practicing in Las Vegas. He has tried cases in both state and federal court and is extensively experienced with arbitration, mediation, and settlement negotiations.
Alongside of his corporate practice, Stephen also devotes significant time to the representation of nonprofit organizations and religious institutions of a variety of faiths, particularly Catholic, Protestant, and Sikh communities. In addition to representing these entities in litigation, he partners with their leadership to plan for the future and prevent future lawsuits, by assessing internal policies and procedures and advising on governance matters. Stephen often works with an organization over a number of years and finds great satisfaction in supporting clients who are deeply passionate about their cause. He is grateful for the trust religious entity clients have in him as they work to carry out their meaningful, faith-based missions.
Prior to his legal career, Stephen taught school and also worked in human capital management services in Canada and Mexico. In both of these fields, his role was to support individuals with various backgrounds and needs, meeting them where they were and helping them achieve their goals. It’s a mindset he continues to bring to his legal practice, proactively solving problems with client goals in mind.
Known for his night and day availability, Stephen is a highly client-focused attorney. What’s important to clients is important to him, and he makes a point of anticipating client needs before clients notice them themselves.
