Husch Blackwell’s Pro Bono Legal Intake Clinic demonstrates our commitment to protecting our clients' rights by connecting attorneys to individuals in need of legal services, but who might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage these services.
Case Overview
Artrea Moore is the mother of Anthony Moore, Jr. Anthony has cerebral palsy and, for years, Ms. Moore has cared for him and served as his guardian. Recently, Ms. Moore faced her own health challenges and decided it was in Anthony’s best interest that she transfer guardianship of him from herself to Erica Dunlap, her daughter and Anthony’s sister.
How Husch Blackwell Helped
Ms. Moore met with Husch Blackwell attorneys through our Pro Bono Legal Intake Clinic at the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis. After engaging Ms. Moore, the attorney team of Mary Grace Warren and Tanya Maerz worked together to secure a waiver of court fees, draft the petition for the transfer of guardianship, and obtain the transfer without a hearing.
Pro Bono Legal Intake Clinic
The Legal Clinic is led by Aleks Rushing and Kayla Loveless where Husch Blackwell attorneys across all practice specialties and industry groups volunteer hundreds of hours each year to meet with neighbors regarding their potential legal needs on a pro bono basis and then assist in the process of finding solutions to address the legal issue presented. Husch Blackwell has provided legal services to dozens of low-income families in St. Louis as a result of this successful program in 2021 alone.
