Situation
U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 20,000 pairs of shoes that were being imported into the United States. Upon the ship’s arrival in the U.S., Customs and Border Protection refused to clear the shoes for entry because each shoe incorporated a counterfeit trademarked component—specifically, a zipper stamped with an invalid logo.
Result
Our import attorneys negotiated with the trademark holder and Customs officials to obtain expedited release of the footwear and achieve significant penalty mitigation down to a nominal amount.
