Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that the firm has finalized an agreement with Pembroke, an international real estate developer and advisor, to occupy 22,800 sq. ft. in the newly renovated office building at 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. The firm will relocate from its current location at 750 17th Street, NW, in March 2022.
The firm’s new Washington, D.C. office location 1801 Penn is situated in the city’s desirable downtown core, a block from the Farragut West metro station on the blue, orange and silver lines, across from Edward R. Murrow Park, The World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund. The firm will take the entire 10th floor and part of the 11th floor at 1801 Pennsylvania.
“Washington, D.C. is a growth priority for Husch Blackwell. We have been adding attorneys to this office steadily over the past few years and anticipate continued growth over the next few years,” said Kyle Gilster, Husch Blackwell’s Washington office managing partner. “It was important to us to strike upon a flexible agreement on space that could grow as we grow, while maintaining our focus on culture, wellness, collaboration, and efficiency.”
The building at 1801 Pennsylvania features floor-to-ceiling glazing and enlarged windows along the Pennsylvania Avenue corridor significantly increase natural light to the workspaces. It also contains a dual-height lobby with lounge and coffee bar available to tenants and guests and a new 5,000 sq ft fitness center equipped with exercise bikes, training equipment, and on-demand classes, among other amenities designed to increase wellness. The building mechanical systems have also been engineered to improve performance and sustainability and to exceed current expectations for air filtration.
“We are very excited about the move to 1801 Penn,” said Bret Chapman, Husch Blackwell’s Chief Administrative Officer. “It’s an opportunity to best support future growth in a market that is very important to our firm and our clients. We remain committed to creating office space that supports the changing needs of multiple generations of attorneys and helps them thrive in the pursuit of serving their clients. The new office space will be designed with technology, mobility and collaboration in mind to meet the needs of attorneys coming in every day of the week, coming on a hybrid work schedule, or coming in from out of town.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome Husch Blackwell to 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue,” said Max Timmons, Asset Manager at Pembroke. “1801 Penn is a fully re-imagined asset offering innovative new amenities and exceptional workspaces designed to elevate the overall tenant experience. Husch Blackwell’s enthusiasm for the boutique feel and amenity offerings makes the firm a terrific fit for the building, and we look forward to working with them for years to come.”
