Alejandra defends clients—particularly those in the transportation industry—in complex commercial litigation matters.
Alejandra manages commercial litigation cases from start to finish, guiding clients through every stage—from initial filings, discovery, and motions, all the way to trial or settlement. She is experienced with a wide variety of business disputes, particularly those that involve contracts and commercial intentional torts. At Husch Blackwell, Alejandra supports the Transportation team, representing shippers, carriers, brokers, and intermediaries in litigation. Many of these cases involve the Carmack Amendment, the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act (FAAAA), and the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act (COGSA), as well as the liability limitations these laws establish.
A career as a litigator has been Alejandra’s goal since middle school, when a mock trial class sparked a lasting enthusiasm for thinking on her feet and solving complex problems. Before attending law school, Alejandra taught mathematics through Teach for America, where she learned to quickly gauge whether her message was connecting and adjust her approach to meet the needs of her audience. This skill translates directly to legal practice, allowing her to communicate clearly with clients, judges, and juries.
Prior to transitioning to commercial litigation and the private sector, Alejandra began her legal career as a public defender, gaining daily courtroom experience and building comfort with trial work. Her background means she is at ease in front of judges, with excellent oral argument skills.
Clients find Alejandra approachable and easy to work with, noting her ability to connect and communicate effectively. Her empathy and ability to read a room help achieve favorable settlements and build rapport, while a sharp mind and calm presence often lead the opposition to underestimate her—until results are delivered.
