A former design and manufacturing engineer, Andrew understands the importance of protecting IP from the drawing board to the store shelf.
Andrew’s practice is devoted to helping his clients develop strategies for protecting and monetizing their valuable intellectual property assets. He is a registered patent attorney and counsels clients on all types of IP, including patent and trademark applications, negotiating and closing IP license agreements, freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions, and trademark clearance and availability. He works particularly often with clients in the life science and medical device spaces.
Andrew also collaborates with client teams and Husch Blackwell colleagues engaged in corporate transactions, providing IP due diligence across a range of technologies and business operations. He also has assisted institutions of higher education in developing and executing policies concerning the research, development and commercialization of IP.
Prior to entering private practice, Andrew worked as an engineer in the product development division of a manufacturer of casino gaming machines. He developed a new slot-machine product line while at the company and regularly consulted with internal and external IP teams to protect the company’s IP assets.
