Husch Blackwell represented Swift Current Energy in closing a tax equity investment from Google for the Double Black Diamond Solar project, an 800 MWdc (593 MWac) facility located 30 miles west of Springfield, Illinois. Double Black Diamond Solar is expected to be the largest solar project east of the Mississippi River and the second-largest single-phase solar project in the U.S. once it comes online in early 2025, producing enough energy each year to power the equivalent of more than 100,000 homes and reduce regional carbon dioxide emissions by approximately one million tons per year.
Previously, Husch Blackwell assisted Swift Current in securing $779 million in project financing—$695 million in construction and tax equity bridge loans and an $84 million letter of credit facility.
The Husch Blackwell team included Anna Kimbrell, Kirsten Large, Riley Nickel, Jordan Farrell, Bob Romashko, Megan Caldwell, Leah Kaiser, Sylvia Bartell, and Mike Blackwell.
